Ranexa is an anti-anginal medication.
1000 mg Ranexa
Ranexa is used to treat adults with angina that keeps coming back, also known as chronic angina. It is not for use during an acute (emergency) attack of angina. Ranolazine works by improving blood flow to help the heart work more efficiently. Ranexa may be used with other medicines that are used for heart problems and blood pressure control.
Take Ranexa exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. The recommended does is 500 mg orally twice daily. Ranexa may be taken with or without food. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow it whole.
Limit the amount of grapefruit products you eat or drink as grapefruit can cause your blood levels of Ranexa to increase. Ranexa can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. If you have these symptoms, do not drive a car, use machinery or do anything that needs you to be alert.
You should not take Ranexa if you are allergic to ranolazine, or if you have cirrhosis of the liver. To make sure Ranexa is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have a heart rhythm disorder, kidney disease, a personal or family history of long QT syndrome.
